I don't know if it is because he is my first and everything I do with him is a guess. Or if it is because he has so much of his personality that matches mine. Or if deep down he might be a heathen and it doesn't matter how well I do with him. But sometimes, I worry that I am not a good enough mom for Lyman. Sometimes I worry that he needs someone stronger, smarter, sneakier, more spiritual - the list goes on and on. Sometimes I worry that nothing I am teaching him is soaking in. Sometimes I wonder if I should start research how close some juvenile detention centers are so I know how far I will have to drive to visit him. As negative (and lighthearted as much of it is meant to be) this sounds - I know Lyman is a good kid deep down. But despite all my fears of his future, and my capacity. Every now and then, he does something like this, and I feel like things might just turn out okay with him.
