Thankful Thursday

I have a lot of things floating about my head to be thankful for today.  I have had friends recently who have been there, said the right thing, at the right moment, for me that changed the outlook I was having.  Recently my husband championed me and my merits and talents in a way that made me feel so loved and valued.  These were unrelated events but that made me feel loved and protected by the people around me.

I am also thankful for the fun I have had getting to know the girl who is coming to our house in August as our new exchange student.  She is sweet, funny and kind.  We look forward to brainwashing her into our lazy American ways.  JK We'll have her dipping her french fries in her chocolate shakes and screaming at football games in no time.  As long as we can make sure she is screaming at the right team I think it will work out alright!

I am thankful for the quirky regency novels I have been reading lately.  They have such fun words in them that I can use in my daily life.  The British people are so cute sometimes.  One such word is often used when talking to a little kid.  They call the kid a poppet.  ie "Come here poppet"  I talked to Andy about it and he said his Mom used to call him poppet every now and then.  I just gushed - my sweatheart a poppet- it was so cute to think of.   I wanted to call him poppet myself.  I think the regency time period is so romantic but I could never live in that time.  It irks me to no end in these books when people have these huge misunderstandings because nobody will simply tell their feelings.  Really people!  I have a terrible habit of getting too into a story that I start to believe it is about real people.  That is why I cant stand that dastardly Wickham!  Give me five minutes with that rake and Ill teach him a lesson he wont forget!  My husband has to remind me they are just stories.  Im not sure he is right - maybe out there somewhere......  Besides if they are just stories how is it that I met my very own Mr. Darcy in Andy?  Mr FitzAndrew Darcy.  Man, I am so funny.
