The other night I was brushing Lyman's teeth and talking to him about when he turns 6 or so he might have a few of his teeth fall out. I told him how then new teeth would grow in that were bigger and that they would be his "adult" teeth. He then figured that meant it was the beginning of being an adult. I told him afterwards that something cool would happen when his teeth fell out. I told him all about the tooth fairy and how just like the Leprechaun - she would know when he was sleeping and would give him money under his pillow if he put his tooth there. He then told me, "and she would give coins, and dollar bills, and credit cards too- she gives all kinds of money." Its funny to me that his perception of money includes credit cards since as a kid I didn't even know what they were. I still know very little about them and so I'm somewhat reluctant to use them much but he has seen us use our "cards" and so he think that is another form of money. My kids are growing up with such different perceptions these days than I had growing up.
